GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Hot weather is here to stay as we head into the weekend.

Hazy, hot and humid are the weather works for this weekend and all of next week. This weekend we could see heat index values in the mid to upper 90s.

Meanwhile, rain chances remain limited with only spotty afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. With weak steering currents, any showers will be slow movers and dump a lot of rain in just a few areas.

The heat and humidity will continue for next week. Highs in the low to mid 90s are forecast as we head toward the Fourth of July, a heat index around 100 is possible by Wednesday. We may have to keep a closer eye on the chance for afternoon storms for Independence Day.
