Chris Thompson hails from northern Illinois and Minnesota, where he was fascinated by the extreme weather patterns in those regions. Chris followed his weather broadcasting dreams and earned a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Northern Illinois University. In 2014, Chris joined the Spectrum News weather team as a full-time meteorologist after spending three years as a part-time weather broadcaster throughout the Triad.
Residing in the Triangle region, Chris spent many years on the board of directors for the Shepherd’s Table Soup Kitchen in Raleigh and was one of the founding organizers of the Durham Habitat for Humanity’s Bull Moon Bicycle and Halloween Bicycle Rides. Chris was also a volunteer EMT for his local rescue squad.
In his free time, you can find him relaxing with his wife and two daughters. Chris also has a passion for woodworking. An entire room in his house is dedicated to his woodworking art and state fair ribbons he has won.
