One hundred and fifty professionals and first responders came to the first ever "Security Day." Venues such as PNC Bank, Red Hat Ampitheater, and DPAC were in attendence. During the event, they talked about different scenarios, such as active shooter situations.
Kelly Painter, the Raleigh Convention Center Director, says because of recent tragedies, these types of events are the the front of peoples mind, more than ever before.
"People come in with an expectation that were looking out for them and we want them to. We want them to enjoy their night and not feel like 'oh my goodness should I be worried and taking care of myself.' Just presence of security, police, us having conversations," said Painter.
Painter said the building saw four million people last year. Along with current safety measures, she believes continuous training and conversations like these help to keep guests safe.
