BLADEN COUNTY, N.C. -- Investigators have arrested two more people in connection to the election fraud investigation in the District 9 race. 

Tonia Gordon and Matthew Mathis is now charged with conspiracy to commit felonious obstruction of justice and possession of absentee ballot. Tuesday, Gordon turned herself in at the Bladen County magistrate's office and Mathis was arrested in Sampson County. 

Caitlyn Croom was arrested earlier this week. Meanwhile, the election operative at the center of the ballot tampering probe made his first court appearance Tuesday.

Second Arrest Made in District 9 Investigation

Dowless was indicted by a Wake County grand jury last week on multiple felony charges, including possession of an absentee ballot, obstruction of justice, and conspiracy to obstruct justice.

Authorities say that Dowless and his associates collected absentee ballots on behalf of then republican candidate Mark Harris in the 9th District congressional race last fall.

The new election for the district is now set for September 10.
