NORTH CAROLINA, N.C. – Voters in North Carolina’s Ninth Congressional District will have a choice between 13 candidates when they head to the polls to cast their ballots in the special election later this year.
- 13 candidates filed to run in District Nine.
- 10 of the candidates are Republicans.
- The primary is set for May 14.
Friday was the final deadline to file for the election.
On the ballot there will be ten Republicans, one Democrat, one Green Party candidate, and one Libertarian.
Running for the Republican party is Stevie Rivenbark Hull, Matthew Ridenhour, Stony Rushing, Fern Shubert, Albert Lee Wiley, Jr., Chris Anglin, Dan Bishop, Leigh Thomas Brown, Kathie C. Day, and Gary Dunn.

Dan McCready is running again for the Democrat party.
Loran Allen Smith is running as a Green Party candidate.
And Jeffery Scott is running as a Libertarian.
The primary election is set for May 14, and a second primary is expected on September 10.
