CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA -- Former U.S. Secretary of Transportation and Mayor of Charlotte, Anthony Foxx, is taking his transportation knowledge to Lyft.

Foxx announced Tuesday that he joined the ride-sharing company as chief policy officer and senior advisor to the CEO.
He said the job will allow him to use his expertise to help Lyft with its mission of getting people places safer and faster--while being more connected to opportunity.
Nominated by former President Barack Obama, Foxx was the country’s transportation secretary from 2013-2017. He was mayor of Charlotte from 2009-2013, becoming the youngest mayor and the second African-American mayor.
