The Duke Energy Center in uptown Charlotte is known for its lights.
Close to 2,500 LED lights run up the 48-story building.
It costs less than $2 a night to light them.
The building is lit easily with the use of a laptop.
A committee of five people decide what events will be chosen and the colors to light the building.
“We built this so it would last centuries, not something that would just be cool for a little while. So I think it's really sustainable and we're really proud of what we created,” said Wells Fargo Corporation Director Corporate Real Estate Bob Bertges.
Wells Fargo operates a Twitter page so people can know what the building is celebrating with its lights.
If the lights are white the building isn't celebrating a specific event.
The Duke Energy Center is lit from sundown until midnight. It's turned back on about an hour before sun-up.
