The election date was postponed last year because of COVID-related delays getting new census numbers. The town is required to use new population data to draw new city council districts every 10 years.
In the race for the open at-large seat, Johnson got only 341 more votes than George in the May election.
The margin in the District C race was even closer in May, with Miller over Smith, the incumbent, by just 38 votes.
There were three Cary Town Council seats on the ballot this year. District A incumbent Jennifer Robinson was the only candidate to avoid a second election, taking more than 74% of the vote.
