TEXAS — The latest COVID-19 numbers from the Texas Department of State Health Services present a mixed bag.

While the total number of new cases is higher than the 890 reported Monday, the number remains below average for the state.

The state on Thursday reported 2,445 new confirmed cases of the virus and 732 new probable cases. In addition, 92 new fatalities were attributed to the virus.

The 3,177 cases reported Thursday is lower than the Texas’ 7-day rolling average, which is 3,314, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

Texas additionally reported 2,856 current hospitalizations attributed to the virus.

DSHS is reporting that 8,591,350 of the state’s nearly 30 million residents have received at least one vaccine dose. A total of 5,063,173 Texans are fully vaccinated, and a total of 13,268,799 vaccine doses have been administered.
