SAN ANTONIO — Two candidates, including incumbent Rebecca Viagran, are seeking victory in including District 3 in San Antonio’s upcoming general election on May 4.

  • Early voting starts April 22
  • Election Day is May 4

First elected in 2013, Viagran wants to continue serving the Southside of San Antonio. If re-elected, she wants to continue focusing on what she says is the city’s second fastest-growing zip code, 78235, near the Brooks community.

“We know that there is a lot of growth, new jobs, new places to live, new places to eat and new places to shop in that area. In the next term, I’d love to see that ripple effect go from Brooks to other parts of the district,” Viagran said.

As growth continues in her district, she said so does the need for public safety. Right now, District 3 does not have a police substation.

“I was advocating for that and I was told that would have to wait for a bond project. I then advocated for two new SAFE officers in the southern sector of District 3 and that is what we got in the city budget,” she said.

As we inch closer to Election Day, she hopes voters will keep her in mind at the polls.

“We’ve started a legacy. We started to build on a lot and I want to continue our strong growth,” Viagran said.

Spectrum News made multiple attempts to reach out to Elizabeth Campos for comment but did not hear back.
