SAN ANTONIO -- The candidates running for District 7 want full transparency for their fast-growing area on the Northwest Side.

  • Ana Sandoval, District 7 incumbent
  • Kimberly Grant, District 7 candidate
  • Will McLeod, District 7 candidate
  • Trevor Whitney, District 7 candidate

"The city is still growing very fast, residents still want to have a say in how that growth takes shape," said Ana Sandoval, San Antonio City Council District 7 incumbent.

Sandoval said she works on infrastructure, growth, and accountability.

"I am very proud to say I do have the San Antonio Police Officers Association endorsement. We are working together and they are giving me their ideas. They have their own policy ideas about how to keep this community safe and I'm glad to have them as a partner," said Sandoval.

Kimberly Grant is also a District 7 candidate.

"Streets and sidewalks, that is a very basic and necessary concern that people have," said Grant.

Grant said she wants to do more for the homeless situation and take care of veterans.

"I would like to work with the city and the state to create a community for our veterans by giving them a tiny home or something that they could call their own," said Grant.

Will McLeod is also a San Antonio City Council District 7 candidate who focuses on public safety, bringing more competition and prioritizing spending.

"We need to get to the basics. Drainage is a big problem. Streets and sidewalk repairs is another big problem. Down Wurzbach we don't have striping,” said McLeod.

San Antonio native and combat veteran Trevor Whitney said that he has three main priorities for the district, including reducing property tax and addressing the issue of homeless veterans.

"The third [priority] is taking the nonpublic safety budget and cutting it by 1 percent. That savings, about $5 million a year, and I'll put it to a public vote,” said Whitney.

Early voting starts Monday, April 22, and the general election is Saturday, May 4.
