This year, themes around LGBTQ+, cultural intersectionality, immigration and other timely topics will be explored. The weekend celebration of the arts will continue on Sunday, November 10, with a special community arts day at Hemisfair and a closing performance at Mission San José.
“It’s so exciting to present Luminaria to San Antonio each year and invite the community to wander into a world of inspiration,” says Executive Director Kathy Armstrong. “For over a decade, Luminaria has been a breeding ground for talent and we are proud to give local and global artists a platform to engage the general public’s curiosity.”
A variety of noteworthy San Antonio-based, national and international artists will be participating. The complete list of featured artists and installations can be found here.
Luminaria started in 2008 as a grassroots, multi-genre arts festival exploding with San Antonio talent and has rapidly evolved into an attraction for artists worldwide. The entire event is free, family-friendly and open to the public.
The full schedule will be announced at a later date. For more information on Luminaria visit their website.
