AUSTIN, Texas – Fourteen Snap Kitchen locations in the Austin area are closing because of the pandemic, according to company owners.

The locations will close permanently on Friday, November 6.

Customers with meal plans at the closing stores should know they will continue as normal until Friday and certain plans will move to the next nearest locations while others will be canceled.

“As we’re all well aware, the coronavirus pandemic — and the ensuing economic recession that resulted from it — has ravaged the restaurant industry, with 61% of restaurants across the country shutting their doors for good,” said CEO Anthony Smith in a letter to customers. “Unfortunately, Snap Kitchen was not immune to the effects of the pandemic and, in order to survive as a company, we’ve had to make the incredibly tough decision to shutter the majority of our stores and say goodbye to many of our dedicated employees.”

Snap Kitchen was founded in Austin in 2010 and prior to the closures has 33 stores in 15 states.

The closing locations include: Avery Ranch, Addison, Fitzhugh, Shops at Legacy, Uptown, Oak Lawn, Southlake, Memorial Park, Memorial Villages, Katy Greenhouse, The Heights, Baybrook, Museum District, Tanglewood.

The Clarksville, Arboretum, Arbor trails, Skillman, Fort Worth, and Kirby will continue operating. Additionally, the company says meals can be purchased at the Texas and Frontier Whole Foods Markets and online for delivery.

A number of Austin businesses have closed as a direct result of the coronavirus pandemic including Dart Bowl, Threadgills, I Luv Video, Vulcan Video, and Cap City Comedy.
