SAN MARCOS, Texas —

 

1 p.m. Friday Update: 

The San Marcos Police Department about 1 p.m. Friday announced suspect Keith Vallen Louis has been arrested in connection to a sexual assault that was reported at The Edge apartment complex in San Marcos the day prior. Police said the sexual assault took place Monday, April 29 and was reported Thursday.  

According to the department, an investigative team received information about Louis' whereabouts earlier Friday, and he was arrested just before noon in Austin. He will be transported to the Hays County Jail. 

The department stated it is not clear if Louis is responsible for the series of assault cases that occurred over the last two weeks. Police urged San Marcos residents to remain vigilant about personal safety and security.

The San Marcos Police Department is investigating a home invasion and sexual assault at The Retreat apartment complex.

According to police, two women were held at gunpoint and assaulted for several hours. When police arrived, the suspect had fled. The person they’re looking for closely matches the person wanted in the aggravated sexual assault that happened on April 24

During the April 24 incident a man broke into a woman’s apartment at the Cottages of San Marcos and hid in her bedroom until she got home at 3:45 p.m. The woman arrived to find the man hiding in her home. He threatened her with a handgun and then sexually assaulted her.

There was a second sexual assault in the area Thursday at The Edge apartment complex, which is very close to The Retreat. In that case, police have issued an arrest warrant for 27-year old Keith Vallen Louis.

He is described as a black male who is nearly 6 feet tall and has an athletic build.

Police said other victims have described a similar man.

They are not yet linking Louis to each crime.

The police are asking for the public's help is capturing the suspect, which includes a request for surveillance footage..
