ROUND ROCK, Texas — For five games this season, the Round Rock Express will transform into the Round Rock Chupacabras.

The change is part of Minor League Baseball’s Copa de la Diversión initiative or Fun Cup, a season-long series designed to embrace the culture and values that resonate most with participating teams' local U.S. Hispanic and Latino communities.
The name chupacabra translates literally to goatsucker. Although believed to be a mythical creature, chupacabras have reportedly been spotted throughout Central and South Texas, Puerto Rico and northern Mexico for decades. Round Rock's team mentality embodies the chupacabras' relentless determination, fierce attitude and superhuman ability to avoid capture.
For the team’s second go-around, they’ve also revamped its chupacabra jersey and prominently features the mythical animal.
