On Feb. 8, a 200-foot-long cave was discovered under Cambria Drive at the Woods of Brushy Creek subdivision after it collapsed. Locals can now take a look at the four-chamber cave with 3-D mapping technology.
The map, engineered with a Trimble SX10 scanner, shows an enhanced view of the cave.
“The technology is quite incredible. You can get a view of the cave as if you are standing inside of it and looking around,” said County Engineer Terron Evertson.
However, the cave won’t be there for much longer as Williamson County officials made the decision to fill it in with concrete. Construction began on July 23 when crews worked to excavate the material that fell during the collapse.
The public is asked to stay clear of the cave while the construction is underway. The portion of the cave underneath two homes will not be filled in.
