WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas - Families in the Brushy Creek neighborhood are still waiting for a solution to a cave discovered under their homes.
Crews covered up the cave and say it's not safe for them to enter after its ceiling continued to weaken Thursday. The cave stretches under at least three homes, which were built about 20 years ago.
Homeowners learned that either their municipal utility district or the county is only responsible for fixing the street. Any potential home damage is on the homeowners themselves.
"When they were building, that should have been taken care of before they could sell a lot for a home," homeowner Frank Lisauckis said. "Is it safe to build on? Who is responsible for that?"
Lisauckis lives just a couple houses away from the cave. Like his neighbors, he's calling his insurance company to see what protection he has - if any - from caves.
