WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas -- Williamson County on Tuesday announced studies and engineering reports concerning the recently discovered cave have been completed and a proposal has been sent to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
It is recommended crews excavate all rock and debris from where the roof collapsed, leaving a clean cave floor. It’s also recommended the void discovered during core sampling be evaluated.

Thirdly, the proposal calls for the capping of the cave so that direct surface water runoff is not conveyed directly into the aquifer.
Crews are also working with 3-D mapping technology to accurately gauge the size of the cave.
