ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Landmark Society of Western New York is permanently cutting ties with Mary Znidarsic-Nicosia.

She and her husband Nicholas are accused of hosting a controversial party on East Avenue in Rochester last month.

Rochester firefighter Jerrod Jones alleged in a notice of claim against the city that the party was racist and mocked Juneteenth. He also claimed his former supervisor, Captain Jeffrey Krywy, took him to the party while on duty. Krywy has since retired.

The Nicosias and their attorney claimed during a news conference that the party was politically themed and that it was only "bashing liberals." However, during the same news conference, Mary admitted that she had made racist posts on Twitter accounts that used other names, which she has since apologized.

The Landmark Society's board of trustees voted unanimously to remove Mary Znidarsic-Nicosia from the board.

The organization issued this statement on Wednesday:

"After providing the required notice, as outlined in our organization’s bylaws, a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of The Landmark Society of Western New York, Inc. (“Landmark Society”) was held on August 30, 2022. At that meeting the Board of Trustees of the Landmark Society voted unanimously to permanently remove Mary Nicosia from our Board of Trustees and any affiliated committees, effective immediately."
