Monroe County Executive Adam Bello has announced he is seeking a second term, officially kicking off his re-election campaign on Saturday.

At UA Local 13 on Saturday, Bello spoke of his time in office and laid out his plans for the next four years if re-elected.

“Monroe County is looking to the future for the first time in generations. My administration has been laser-focused on protecting and improving the lives of our residents, bettering our local economy, training our workforce and lessening the burden on our taxpayers,” Bello said in a statement. “Four years ago, I ran on a platform of bringing new ideas to County government, breaking down silos in our community and bettering the lives of all our residents. I am proud of all that we have accomplished so far and am running for re-election to ensure we continue to build on the progress we have made together.”

Bello touted the Bring Monroe Back recovery agenda, which the county executive’s campaign says aims to “serve as a roadmap for his administration’s unprecedented investment in Public Health and Wellness, Workforce and Economic Development, Public Safety, and Infrastructure Improvements.”

Bello has served as county executive since defeating then-incumbent Cheryl Dinolfo in Nov. 2019. He is only the second Democrat to be elected Monroe County executive; the first being Tom Frey in 1986.

Former Gates town supervisor, and previous congressional hopeful Mark Assini, announced his candidacy for county executive on Monday.
