ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Former Gates town supervisor, and previous congressional hopeful, Mark Assini, is now setting his sights on the Monroe County Office Building.
Assini, a Republican, announced his candidacy for county executive on Monday.
He served as Gates town supervisor from 2010-2018 and twice ran for Congress. In both races, he challenged the late Louise Slaughter for her seat in the House of Representatives in New York's 25th Congressional District.
While Assini was not successful in unseating Slaughter, he came closer than many expected.
Current County Executive Adam Bello has not yet announced his re-election bid, but is expected to seek another term.
