The 21st District in the Monroe County Legislature will soon have a new representative.
The Monroe County Democratic Committed voted Wednesday to appoint Rachel Barnhart to finish Mark Muoio’s term.
Muoio resigned earlier this month after moving out of the district.
Barnhart won the democratic primary for the seat this summer.
She is running in the November general election against third-party candidate Victor Sanchez, who Barnhart said will not be campaigning.
"I will be able to get to work early. I will be able to participate in the budget process for Monroe County taking office early, and I’m excited for that,” Barnhart said.
Barnhart said even though she won't have to campaign for her election, she will meet with voters in her district to help Democrats win other elections.
