Mendon town leaders are calling for Highway Superintendent Andy Caschetta to immediately resign amid sexual harassment allegations.
Mendon Town Supervisor John Moffitt says he and a majority of the town board are demanding Caschetta's job based on the results of an independent investigation.
Contracted by the town board, they say the Bolaños Lowe law firm found evidence of repeated acts of sexual harassment, threats of violence in the workplace and retaliatory behavior against employees.
Caschetta didn’t immediately return a request for comment.
Detailing complaints and issues dating back to 2023, the report alleges Caschetta's actions caused increased turnover and a significant disruption to public services.
“Elected leaders have a duty to uphold the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and professionalism,” Moffitt said in a statement. “The evidence uncovered in this investigation is deeply troubling and completely unacceptable in any workplace—especially in a taxpayer-funded public office. Mr. Caschetta’s continued presence in this role is an insult to the hardworking employees of the Town of Mendon and our residents. He must resign immediately.”
