The Erie County District Attorney's Office says a suspect has been charged in the deaths of two men in their Allentown apartment on Tuesday.
The DA's office says Bryan Chiclana, 34, has been arrested and charged with one count of murder in the first degree and two counts of murder in the second degree in connection with the deaths of Michael "Mickey" Harmon, 40, and Jordan Celotto, 37.
Harmon and Celotto both died of blunt force trauma, the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office determined.
City of Buffalo officials say Chiclana did not know either of them and say this case is not rooted in a hate crime. They say he was in the area and tried to break into multiple homes and vehicles in the area.
"While the arrest is a critical step forward in the investigation, we know that the healing for this community will take some time, and as mayor of the city of Buffalo, I just want the victim's families, their friends and the entire community to know that I am here, the city of Buffalo is here and your neighbors are here should you need anything,” said Acting Buffalo Mayor Christopher Scanlon.
Memorials for Harmon and Celotto were erected in Allentown this week.
Harmon was planning an event this weekend called "Queertopia" at Nietzsche's to showcase local queer art and performances. The event is now going to be a memorial event with free admission.
Those grieving are also invited to drop-in for counseling at Whole Stories Therapy for free on Saturday between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at 257 Lafayette St.
