HILTON, N.Y. — The village of Hilton is the place to be this weekend for an all-day music festival to benefit cancer research in our area.
Karen Hermance is a 20-year volunteer for the Sally Edelman-Harry Gardner Cancer Research Foundation. Saturday is its third annual Time Machine Music Festival in Hilton. The nonprofit is focused on raising money for cancer research. Since it began in 1984, it has given Wilmot Cancer Institute $1.4 million.
"Everybody has been touched by cancer one way or another," board president Karen Hermance said. "Every day we wake up with another reason to keep fighting. So, I think that the community sees we are giving money and all of it goes to cancer research. Everybody wants to help."
This grassroots fundraising effort includes all kinds of events from golf and euchre tournaments to bowling and music. The foundation has funded projects in colon, breast, brain and pancreatic cancer.
The Time Machine Music Festival is Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m. at 135 South Ave. with live music from 7th Heaven, Sandra Naro and Yacht Club. There will be food, drinks, a 50/50 raffle and a mobile mammogram unit. Music fest tickets are $20 and $10 for anyone age 21 and under. Beverage proceeds will be donated to the Hilton Fire Department.
