Applications are now being accepted for Rochester Community University, a series of six workshops designed to help residents advocate for themselves and their neighborhoods.

Workshops will give residents insight into City Hall and all of the local resources that they can then use to address issues affecting them.

“I encourage residents to register for Rochester Community University and learn about resources and the art of advocacy to champion positive change for themselves and their neighbors,” said Mayor Malik Evans. “Civic discourse is critical to building a stronger, more vibrant community; we all have a role to play in creating a city of hope where every resident has the opportunity to thrive.”

Workshops will take place at City Hall from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, beginning Oct. 2. Applications are being accepted online through Sept. 16.

Scheduled workshops include:

  • Blueprint for Growth: Understanding the Rochester 2034 Plan
  • Beyond Books and Booths: The Impact of Rochester's Libraries and the Public Market
  • Navigating Your NSC: Services, Support, and Community Engagement
  • Preparing for City Council: Mastering Preparation and Presentation
  • Urban Nature: Forests and Gardens
