FAIRPORT, N.Y. — You're invited to find hidden art in Fairport to celebrate the grand opening of Railroad Street Artworks. It's an interactive community art hunt to locate art by local artists. If you find one, you get to keep it!

What You Need To Know

  • Railroad Street Artworks grand opening and open house is Aug. 23-25

  • It is designed to be an inclusive space for anyone passionate about art

  • It is an art gallery, has art class space and can be used for community events

Railroad Street Artworks is a new art, workshop and event space in the village where artists are welcome to create, learn and inspire. The creatives here are inviting any and all to look for clues on its Facebook and Instagram pages to join in the hunt to discover local art.

"Every day, a couple of pieces of art get deposited somewhere in the village of Fairport and has a sticker on it that says 'free to a good home'. It also gives the information about Railroad Street Artworks on the back. There is a huge, huge concentration of artists here and a huge concentration of people who love art," said Pam Renfro, Railroad Street Artworks director. "Art, in my opinion, is what preserves our culture. It is the archives that people find in the future and look back and see who were in this time and in this space."

If you find one of the hidden art pieces, snap a photo and post it on social using #RailroadStreetArtworksHunt. The contest runs until the first week of September.
