FAIRPORT, N.Y. — One of the most popular secondhand sale fundraisers in the Greater Rochester area opens Wednesday. People start lining up early for the annual Saint’s Place Super Sale.

The sale is located at a new location at St. John of Rochester in Fairport and is filled with thousands of community-donated items. It includes gently used and some new merchandise from housewares, tools, sports gear, jewelry, art, handbags, collectibles and more.

Saint's Place is a nonprofit that helped more than 1,600 refugees settle comfortably in Rochester this past year. Sale proceeds help buy mattresses and home furnishings. 

"They came with nothing but the clothes on their backs and maybe a small suitcase and so we give them that first steps toward a brighter future and that is our whole goal is to make them feel welcome in our community and give them a better and brighter future," said Saint's Place executive director Michele Quinn.

The Saint's Place Super Sale runs Wednesday through Saturday. They're hoping to raise more than $150,000.
