RUSH, N.Y. — The New York Museum of Transportation in Rush is looking to add some new volunteers to their roster and are looking to do so through a hands-on open house this Saturday.

What You Need To Know

  • The New York Museum of Transportation was founded in 1975

  • It is a non-profit organization located at 6393 East River Rd. in Rush

  • NYMT operates an electric trolley ride

Climb aboard for a super fun volunteer experience sharing New York State's transportation history at the New York Museum of Transportation.

How about a ride on a 100-year-old electric trolley car? The museum includes that as well as a steam locomotive, model railroad, caboose, horse-drawn vehicles, antique fire trucks and a gift shop.

The museum needs some help with tours, so anyone age 18 and older, and kids age 12-17 accompanied by an adult are invited to check out some of the volunteer opportunities at the museum located at 6393 East River Rd. in Rush. The open house is Saturday, June 22 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

"We want to add you to our volunteer corps," the museum said. "You can operate a trolley car, start up a fire engine, run the model trains, and more."
