A Rochester nursing center will temporarily lay off all of its workers by the end of the week.
Wesley Gardens began the layoffs New Year's Eve, but according to Bob Jones, the CEO, employees are expected to get their jobs back in mid-March.
In the meantime, employees who helped with the transition of residents to other facilities are filling out job applications at Hurlbut Care Communities.
"We have approximately had 26 we've interviewed so far and we also have reached out to Wesley Gardens and gotten contact numbers so that we can reach out to additional staff members and offer them employment and interviews," said Nicole Halsey, director of nursing at The Hurlbut Nursing Home in Brighton.
Wesley Gardens closed December 19 after a sprinkler system ruptured on the seventh floor.
The state cited Wesley Gardens for the system last summer. It was supposed to have been fixed by October.
Other nursing homes are caring for residents while repairs continue.
Staff members are expected to return in mid-March with the first residents returning in late March.
More than 100 residents as well as staff were displaced.
