ROCHESTER, N.Y. — More details were revealed Wednesday in a court case centered on an Irondequoit man accused of killing and dismembering his girlfriend and then fleeing to West Virginia.

Seth Larson appeared in front of Judge Karen Bailey Turner in county court.

Police say he is charged with second-degree murder, tampering with evidence and concealment of a human corpse in the death of his girlfriend Lisa Shuler. Larson pleaded not guilty to the charges at a prior hearing.

In the courtroom on Wednesday, the district attorney laid out the evidence that was submitted, such as a recording from Larson's car ride with West Virginia deputies back to Rochester, and other recordings.

Larson's attorney said she received the evidence and then requested Larson be able to post bail at $50,000 cash, pointing out that he has no adult criminal record. That's when District Attorney Perry Duckles laid out a timeline of events in the case as he argued against bail being set at that price.

"Larson left his residence in Irondequoit, which we're alleging is the scene of the crime," said Duckles. "On Monday the 24th, he checked into a Days Inn down in West Virginia. Ms. Shuler had not yet been discovered at that point. So based upon our investigation and the investigation by Irondequoit and the state police, with help from Lewis County, [West] Virginia it is our belief that Mr. Larson was not planning on returning. And some of the items in his room indicated that he was willing to basically disappear."

In the courtroom, Duckles said camping gear and a map of the woods were found in Larson's hotel room in West Virginia.

About a week after Shuler's body was discovered, Larson called West Virginia sheriff's deputies to turn himself in, authorities say.

The judge set Larson's bail at $1 million cash.
