IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — Police say the body of a woman discovered Tuesday night at a home on Culver Road in Irondequoit had been dismembered.
Members of law enforcement revealed the information during a news briefing Friday.
According to the Irondequoit Police Department and the New York State Police, the body is that of 37-year-old Lisa Shuler. The medical examiner's office is still working to determine the cause of death, when she was killed and how long her body had been outside.
Officers found Shuler's body while responding to a call for a welfare check. Investigators say she lived at the home with her boyfriend, 40-year-old Seth Larson. They say the two had been in a relationship for 10 years, and Larson is considered a person of interest in the case.
Police say they have confirmed Larson fled the area and that he was in Maryland on Tuesday, but his current location is unknown.
"We've confirmed through the great investigative work of the investigators with the Irondequoit Police Department and the New York State Police that Larson had fled the area. We're not disclosing how we know he fled the area, but we know by Tuesday, he was in Maryland," said Chief Alan Laird of the Irondequoit Police Department.
Larson is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall with tattoos on both forearms. He may have either short brown hair or his head shaved bald.
Police believe he may be driving a blue 2011 Nissan Juke with New York plate FTP 6756. They say his plates are peeling, making them easier to identify.
Anyone with any information on Larson's whereabouts or any details about the case is asked to call 911, the Irondequoit Police Department at 585-336-6000 ext. 2200, or CrimeStoppers at (585) 423-9300.
