  • No arrests have been made in connection to the shootings

Neighbors said they heard gunshots at King Street Park, and then looked outside to see people fleeing in every direction.

Just one person had stayed behind with Crosslands until police arrived and began administering CPR, Poughkeepsie Police Lt. Matt Clark said.

Crosslands died a short time later at the hospital.

He was 24.

Just after police responded to that scene, they began receiving reports of shootings at several locations throughout the city.

Nine reports of gunshots came into the department between 9:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

“It’s kind of regular, honestly,” neighbor Renee Sharples said, as she was heading to the tennis courts to hit some balls with her younger cousin.

She said Poughkeepsie is not the best environment for her cousin.

“That’s without a doubt,” Sharples said. “We do not want him to grow up here, but I don’t know what we’re going to do about it right now.”

Police have not made arrests connected to Saturday’s shootings and have not identified any shooters.

Clark told Spectrum News the department has received several anonymous tips, but is still looking for a witness who is “willing to go the whole way and testify in court.”
