The man caught on video threatening an off-duty cop and his son and calling him racial slurs has pleaded guilty to a hate crime.

William Ryan, 60, admitted to calling a Town of Wallkill police lieutenant racial slurs during a verbal dispute on June 11. In an incident which was caught on video, Ryan then confronted the man again, waving a knife through the lieutenant's car window just inches away from his face.

Ryan admitted that the lieutenant's race was his motivation behind the incident.

Ryan pleaded guilty to menacing as a hate crime and criminal possession of a weapon. He faces a split sentence of six months in prison and five years of probation.
