Central Hudson is being asked to answer for a gas-related explosion that injured 10 people last year on Brick Row in the village of Wappingers Falls.

The state's Public Service Commission has ordered the gas company to show why a civil enforcement proceeding should not start, and why it should not be penalized for possible violations.

An initial investigation showed Central Hudson contractors struck an unmarked natural gas service line on Nov. 2, 2023, causing it to leak, which led to the explosion.

Ten people were hurt, including two children.

In a statement, Central Hudson officials said they will closely review the commission's report and provide a response within the allotted timeline.
