Middletown Police say a man killed his wife and then himself in their home.

Police say they responded to a Monhagen Avenue home around 6:30 p.m. Sunday. There, they found 58-year-old Dennis Hercules and 52-year-old Jasminn Emanuel dead.

Investigators say there was probably a domestic dispute when Hercules shot Emanuel, then shot himself. They also say Hercules legally possessed the gun.

Middletown police have only confirmed with us a male reported the couple were dead from gunshot wounds, but that this person did not see the shooting happen. Neighbors say it was the couple's 12-year-old son who found his parents' bodies.

Neighbors say the couple was quiet and kept to themselves. But those we spoke to say they're shocked that this happened.

"Damn, that's sad. I'm sorry for the kids they left behind," said neighbor Danny Soto.

"It's something you can't really wrap your head around, that somebody could do that," said neighbor Nancy Parmelee.

The investigation is still open, but police don't think there will be any more suspects in the case.
