The Dolgeville School District is taking another pass at the budget after the first proposal was voted down a few weeks ago.

The superintendent said the new $18,662,364 budget plan would include a 5.9 percent tax levy. That's down from the original 11 percent proposed hike.

However, that means there will be cuts to programs and staff, including:

  • Employee benefit cut to Prescription Drug plan
  • Extended Skills Program for students (Extra help from teachers after school)
  • Summer Learning Camp for Elementary Students (Summer School)
  • 1 Student Club (Outdoor Club)
  • 6.5 Teaching Positions
  • 1 Prinicipal Position
  • 8 Teaching Assistant Positions
  • 2 Counseling Positions
  • 1 Teacher/AD Position
  • 10 Part Time Monitor Positions
  • 5 Coaching Positions
  • 1 Business Office Position
  • Budget Cuts to Classroom and Maintenance
  • Several Stipends for Extra Duty Beyond the School Day (Chaperone, Newsletter, etc.)

Some of those moves will include retirements and resignations.

The next budget hearing is on June 11 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium.

The vote is a week later on June 18 at 8 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.
