October surely felt warm here in Eastern New York, so let’s look at where we ended up in an average monthly climate summary.

- The coolest average monthly temperature was 42.3 degrees in Oct. 1836
- The warmest average monthly temperature was 57.8 degrees in Oct. 2017
- Albany received 3.15 inches of precipitation, which is 0.70 inches below normal
After a mild October with warmer than normal temperatures, it may take us some time to adjust our thinking to cold and snow that is headed our way this week.
It surely was a great month for spending time outdoors during the peak foliage season, and it surely was nice to do it without wearing a jacket or long sleeves.
October turned out warmer and drier than normal, with precipitation amounts coming in below normal. Temperatures ran above normal by about a degree.
While we monitor warming climates, this past month was not too remarkable.
