Heather Morrison was born and raised in the Capital Region, and is one of the few proud members of the Spectrum News 1 team who have been with the station since the first airdate in 2002. A people person with a jovial personality, Heather loves helping others, and is a big believer that good things happen to good people. As a meteorologist, Heather explains that she’s here to inform, not alarm, when it comes to delivering her weather forecast.

This veteran meteorologist has covered hundreds of impactful weather events. However, the one that sticks out to her most is the coverage of Tropical Storm Irene and the severe flooding and damaging winds that came with it. With many communities throughout the Capital Region facing devastating flooding, Heather’s hours of coverage until the storm ultimately passed was a reminder of how great the responsibility a meteorologist really is.

When Heather isn’t in front of the green screen, you can find her spending time with her family, usually enjoying one of the many festivals Albany has to offer in the summer months. Aside from community events, Heather and her family are passionately involved with animal advocacy groups and the Autism Society of Albany.
