The combination of strong chemistry, hard work and some talent is typically the formula for success on the field.

For a pair of Saratoga County lacrosse players, what the dynamic duo has accomplished in their senior season is a decade in the making.

MK Lescault and Ella Blesi have been striving for greatness together since the second grade.

“We’re always competing together,” said Lescault, a senior for the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake girls’ lacrosse team. “We’re always pushing each other so I feel like because of that we’ve made each other better.”

The chemistry between the two started on the soccer pitch.

“I definitely remember being like ‘Oh my gosh who is this girl,’” said Ella Blesi, a senior for the Spartans. “She’s really fast, and I’m like ‘I’m going to get her the ball every time and she’s going to score.’”

“I dribbled down, passed to her, and she scored. And the next play she dribbled down and passed to me and I scored, and it was back and forth for like five goals,” said Lescault, recalling that moment. “And instantly we were just like ‘oh we’re going to be best friends.’”

Lescault and Blesi were off and running in soccer, basketball and lacrosse. The pair always drove each other to new limits with hard work and a lot of competition.

“We’re always on separate teams for literally everything,” Lescault said. “Even gym class were on separate teams, and so it gets pretty competitive and she’s really fast so you got to work hard to get the ball.”

“It’s always like I give her a little shove and she’ll give me a shove back, and it’s like we share a laugh but we’re also super competitive,” Blesi said.

But when the two team up, they’re nearly unstoppable. Lescault has registered more than 400 career points for the Spartans in lacrosse, while Blesi crossed the 200 career point milestone this season.

“I think that like me just playing with her all the time and seeing how she sees the lacrosse field and the things that she’s doing, it helps me to translate it into my game,” Blesi said. “And it’s hard to not learn from her because she’s just so great.”

All those battles on the field have earned both an opportunity to continue playing lacrosse at the division one level. Blesi will be joining Syracuse next year, while Lescault has committed to play at Johns Hopkins.

“It’s fantastic that I get to play with my best friend every day and just knowing I have her to trust her and for her to trust me it’s just a great dynamic that we have out there and I think that’s what eases some of our worries of the game,” Lescault said.

The dynamic duo are enjoying every minute of this last dance together and are cherishing the goals, the wins and the memories forever.
