Two people are dead and five are injured after multiple shootings Friday in Albany.

The most violent shooting was a drive by on the corner of First and Quail Street around 2:30 p.m. One person died and five were injured.

Caught in the cross fire was the JC club, which offers free meals to at-risk kids in the city.

“Because it hits so close to home for us, we had bullets in our JC club in the office and went through the windows and they’re in our office,” said Pastor Charles Muller of Victory Church.

Victory Church is partnering with local organizations to combat violence in the city and help kids in Albany stay on right path.

“Because we want others to look at the real work being done in our city and invest in these programs are really going to steer our kids in the right direction,” Muller said.

Pastor Charlie is offering up a $5,000 reward to help in the shooting investigation, but he says city officials need to do more. He says Friday night’s shooting wasn’t the first instance of gun violence on the corner of First and Quail Street.

“You’re talking about the most violent corner in the city of Albany,” Muller said. “More shootings there, two years ago, we met with them and showed them the issue, showed them the problem. They said we will do something and zero was done.”

Mayor Kathy Sheehan’s chief of staff released a statement on the mayor’s behalf, stating:

“Mayor Sheehan listens to the concerns and suggestions of residents who live in the communities impacted by gun violence. Pastor Muller has not reached out to the Mayor to meet over the last two years but would be happy to meet him should he reach out.”

Albany Police have charged Jhajuan Sabb, 21, with murder in connection to the shooting near First and Quail Streets. Meanwhile, no arrests have been made in connection to the other fatal shooting that happened Friday near Henry Johnson Boulevard and Central Avenue. Officers say that's where Lashon Turner, 39, was killed.

Both shootings remain under investigation.
