Plans for the Costco and New York Oncology and Hematology Treatment Center in Guilderland are moving forward.

Demolition of homes and trees will be underway soon. Construction activity will be seen along Crossgates Mall Road and Western Avenue.

The construction of Costco is expected to be complete by the end of this year, while the cancer treatment site will be complete by December 2026.

The Costco project has taken years to get off the ground. It cleared a major hurdle in its effort to develop the store off Western Avenue in 2022, when a state Appellate court ruled the Guilderland Planning Board did its proper diligence on the potential environmental impacts of the project.

For more than a year, Save the Pine Bush challenged the project. It accused the town of "allowing the developers to eat away at the Pine Bush ecosystem dozens of acres at a time."
