A 48-year-old man was charged with shooting and killing a man in Watervliet on Friday morning, police said in a statement. 

Officers responded to the 600 block of 24th Street for a report of shots fired at around 9:40 a.m., and discovered a male with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

The victim was taken to Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, police said.

Charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon was Reginald P. Goodman, 48, who was arraigned in Watervliet City Court and taken to Albany County jail without bail, according to police.

Police said detectives recovered a handgun believed to be used in the incident.
