Ten people from the Capital Region have been arrested stemming from an investigation into a string of shootings in downtown Albany that left one person dead and six individuals wounded, police said Tuesday afternoon.
As part of an investigation into the shootings, which occurred around 10:50 p.m. Saturday on North Lake Avenue, detectives executed a search warrant of 117 N. Lake Ave., site of The Lounge and recovered two loaded 9 mm handguns, Albany police said. The city shut down the club in the aftermath of the shooting.
Ten people located 10 inside the address were each charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to police.
Arraigned Sunday in City Court, according to the authorities, were: Michael McDermott, 29, Jasmine Torres, 31, Robert Stallings, 35, Victor Gonzalez, 43, Jacqueline Gonzalez, 47, Carmen Guzman, 47, and David Bridges, 54, all of Troy; Ashley St. John, 33, of Schenectady; Shalaeko Banks, 34, of Albany; and Eric Patel, 34, of Ballston Spa.
Police continue to investigate the shooting that claimed the life of Alexander Bolton, 29, of New Bedford, Mass. Police say he was shot in the torso, treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Six people were treated for gunshot wounds sustained in the incident, according to police.
