A Colonie man was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with killing an Albany man Friday on Central Avenue near Henry Johnson Boulevard, Albany police announced.
Natural Wise Joseph, 33, was arrested following an investigation by detectives with the Albany Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit, according to police.
He is charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies, police said. Police say that at the time of his arrest, Joseph had cocaine in his possession, and was also charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, also a felony.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Albany Criminal Court.
Joseph's arrest stems from around 6:25 p.m. Friday, when Albany police officers responded to the Central Avenue location for reports of a shooting.
Lashon Turner, 39, of Albany suffered a gunshot wound to the torso, and died at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
The incident came hours after six persons were shot and one killed in a drive-by shooting at First and Quail streets in Albany.
Albany police made an arrest in that case over the weekend.
