Firefighters responded to a fire in Cohoes on Thursday.

It broke out around 7:30 p.m. on the second floor of a building on Egbert Street. The fire chief says it was brought under control quickly-- everyone made it out safely and nobody was hurt.

Firefighters were able to rescue several cats and dogs and the chief says the four people who lived in the two apartments have a place to stay tonight.

The cause remains under investigation.
