Nestled in the Adirondacks is a unique adventure complete with six elevated, obstacle-filled courses and ziplines over 1 1/2 scenic miles.

Adirondack Extreme Adventure Course is located in Bolton Landing, just 12 miles north of Lake George, off Exit 24 on the Northway.

Because the experience can be “extreme,” it’s recommended you spend about 30 minutes on the practice course getting comfortable with two important devices called “click-its.” They connect your safety harness to the metal safety wire you'll see pretty much everywhere at the park.

Jaimie Delong is the manager. She's been a part of the staff since the park opened in 2007.

"Then, there were only four courses and one kids’ course. And we kept adding in the middle. So now there's six adventure courses for nine and up, and two for six and up, and that zipline-only course," Delong said.

Course difficulty ranges from “low” to “extreme.” Delong promises challenges for even the most physically fit guest.

"A very small percentage of people make it [through] our sixth course; it's very physically demanding."

One of the more interesting obstacles is called the "leap of faith."

So if you want a challenge, course six is right up your alley. But if instant gratification is more your thing, the 500-foot zipline in the front of the park is low effort and high reward.

You do have to sign a waiver, which includes some COVID-19-related questions. The park, which is open through the fall, is taking reservations for groups and individuals. Visit their website for more information.
