1. Albany police chief leaving position in December

Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan and the APD said Hawkins, who has been chief since 2018, will be the next police commissioner in Warren, Michigan. He will start in his new job on Dec. 2.

2. Nearly $30M in Defense Department spending going to N.Y. microelectronic commons hub, Schumer says

About $27 million in Department of Defense funding will go to the New York-based consortium known as the Northeast Regional Defense Technology Hub (NORDTECH) to boost semiconductor research and development and workforce training at upstate universities and research institutions, U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer announced Wednesday.

3. $50M to go to supporting child care facilities in New York, Hochul says

The funding will support child care facilities across New York, impacting an estimated 5,500 seats at facilities, Gov. Kathy Hochul said. It includes more than $7.7 million for Hudson Valley facilities and more than $6.3 million for Capital Region establishments.

4. Tribute planned in Albany for Alice Green

The Center for Law and Justice has announced a tribute service in Albany in honor of the late Dr. Alice Green.

5. U.N. to vote on Palestinian resolution demanding Israel end its occupation

The U.N. General Assembly will vote Wednesday on a Palestinian resolution demanding that Israel end its "unlawful presence" in Gaza and the occupied West Bank within a year, withdraw its military forces and evacuate the area of all settlers.

6. Decision 2024 updates: Trump to rally on Long Island in N.Y., Harris to address Hispanic caucus

Ahead of his Wednesday rally on Long Island, Donald Trump is vowing to restore the federal deduction for state and local tax payments, also known as SALT, reversing course on a controversial provision of the 2017 tax law that he pushed through Congress.
