The Center for Law and Justice has announced a tribute service in Albany in honor of the late Dr. Alice Green.

Green founded the center after the 1984 shooting of a young Black man. She also provided legal guidance and education on civil and criminal justice issues for nearly 40 years. Green also served as an adjunct professor at the University at Albany and was previously a legislative director for the New York Civil Liberties Union.

Green passed away last month at the age of 84.

The ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29 at the Palace Theatre. It will include performances and speakers in recognition of her legacy.
