1. Suspect in Albany officer shooting died of self-inflicted gunshot wound, police say

The suspect in the shooting incident Wednesday morning that left an Albany police officer wounded died from a self-inflicted gunshot, according to police. Police identified the suspect as Amiel Layeni, 28 of Albany. The wounded officer was also identified — Jonathan Damphier, who was hired by the APD in February 2021.

2. Cases of measles in New York: What you need to know

3. Biden to visit Central New York following Micron funding deal, Schumer says

President Joe Biden will visit Central New York next week on the heels of an announcement of funding for Micron, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer told Spectrum News 1 on Thursday. The president's planned visit has no details at this time, but comes as Schumer announced that Micron has agreed to a preliminary deal that would unlock more than $6 billion in federal funding toward its chip-manufacturing plans in the region.

4. Google fires 28 workers after office sit-ins to protest cloud contract with Israel

The company's claim that the protests were part of a longstanding campaign by groups and "people who largely don't work at Google" was untrue, the group said. The group posted photos and videos on social media showing workers in Google offices holding placards and sitting on the floor, chanting slogans.
